Laser Cladding

ASCO Laser Cladding.

Laser cladding is the next generation of surface coating treatments. Asco operates its market leading AST-9 series laser cladding 4.5kW IPG Fibre Laser fully integrated into an 9-Axis handling system.

Laser cladding technology allows materials to be deposited accurately, selectively and with minimal heat input into the underlying substrate.

We offer localised laser cladding to protect outer diameters against wear and corrosion in the well, for example MWD and LWD Tools, Drill Collars, Stabilisers and Couplings. Asco also produce gas-tight coatings with high corrosion resistance for Ball Valves, Gate Valves and Seats. ID cladding of radial bearings is also provided. Materials that are difficult to weld, such as high-temperature nickel-based alloys and high-carbon steels, are more easily clad using Laser metal deposition. In addition, the typically small melt pool formed during LMD process enables Asco to produce very complex geometries within a single setup to deposit protective surfaces & restorative build-ups.
